Eretz Israel Museum, Exhibits for the Entire Family
October 15th, 2009In honor of Tel Aviv’s centennial celebrations, the Castles in the Sand exhibit will be featured until October 25, 2009 at the Eretz Israel Museum. The exhibit, a tribute made possible by the Dutch Embassy in Israel, features sand castles recreating Habima Theater, Mugrabi Opera House and Herzliya High School – the first Hebrew high school. The sand castles were sculpted by artists from the World Sand Sculpting Academy, in Holland.
The museum features interesting temporary exhibits for the entire family, including Faces: Inside and Out (through November 21, 2009) – about people, faces, masks and beliefs. The exhibit is experiential, and also features interactive games. The posters, illustrations, emblems, children’s books and games, as well as an array of photographs, (through March 2010) featured in Memories of the Zoo, are only a fraction of the items aimed at recreating the experience of visiting the zoo, as remembered by those who were once children in Tel Aviv or those who came to the city to visit the zoo, which was one of the attractions offered by the big city.
The museum also has a unique gift store, featuring handiwork by leading Israeli designers in the fields of Judaica, jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, children’s games and more
