The first Tel Aviv international theatre festival
January 26th, 2009The International Theatre Festival that will take place as part of Tel Aviv’s centenary celebrations will include some twelve of the world’s most prestigious theatre companies representing the five continents, that will offer performances accompanied by simultaneous translation (either screened or audio) for the benefit of the Hebrew-speaking audience.
The main part of the Festival will take place over one month in the Spring of 2009. However, under the aegis of the Festival and throughout the centenary year, The Cameri Theatre will be able to host (from January to the end of the year) a different company every two months or so.
The choice of productions will be meticulous with emphasis on their uniqueness and high standard. Each of the productions chosen to perform at the Festival must have an innovative and unique theatrical message.
Emphasis will be placed on productions that are more visual and movement-oriented rather than verbal so as to facilitate the connection between the audience and the productions.
